And Onto Another One

Blame it on my gypsy soul or the "seasonal" work in and around the cattle business but it's time for me to move onto the next gig. But this time I won't be going alone.

I moved to Three Creek with the idea I'd stay through fall work and move on. What I didn't count on was making some life long friends, and learning more about my self than I ever thought imaginable in a six month time span.

The first beer was offered to me at 11pm when I pulled in my first night in Idaho, and since then I couldn't tell you how many CASES of beer have been demolished in this little valley. While the beers dwindled in number the memories only continued to grow. Countless fires in the front yard leave me with smoke flavored thoughts of carrying drunk cowboys to their bunks after the beer and vodka got the best of a long day and an empty stomach. Swing dancing under the stars with only the fire to light the dark nights. Beers shotgunned only to leave everyone feeling queasy because they were much too cold. My "special noodles" (nothing more than noodles and Italian dressing) quickly becoming the favorite of all the cowboys and their families. I could mention so many more memories but for the sake of the cowboys I adore and my family at home some things should just stay in Three Creek.

Early morning and big circles make for sore asses and a whole lot of thinking time. Time to be thankful, time to be sad, time to reminisce, time to just giggle to yourself as you trot along. I think I can speak for all us on the summer camp place when I say there is just something special about watching the sunrise through the ears of your horse and watching the beauty of the sage brush seas reveal themselves in the first lights of day.

Talking, a whole lot of talking happened out here at the Summercamp place. Long deep talks about life, love, and the lack there of with people who quickly changed from strangers to coworkers to family. Talks about the future, the past, and the present. One talk I didn't expect to have so often was how much we would all miss this beautiful place when it finally sold.

As I begin to pack my house I realize how much I learned in my time here. How to love deeply and selflessly. To not judge a book by it's cover. To appreciate good horses and even the bad horses. To appreciate the beauty of raising cows on God's green earth. And to appreciate the opportunity we have to learn from everyone and everything around us day in and day out.

By now I should be a professional packer and mover considering this will be my 7th move in the last 3 years. But this time I am not doing it alone. This time my coworker / handsome boyfriend Monty will be making this move together (that is a whole other blog)

. My one small dog pack of two has tripled to six dogs and a litter of three week old pups. If you think the amount of dogs I have is insane, please call my mother Stephanie and speak with her because she would love to have someone on her side on the issue!

When we get all settled in the next place I will be sure to write again and keep you updated on all things you may or may not want to know! Until then, safe travels, happy days, and lots of love, Syd
